So one can go home again and do so in such a peaceful and compassionate way. So beautiful to read.

It was an amazing experience for me to be there, and feel peaceful and grateful for so much of the time I spent growing up.

Beautiful in so many ways….and a wonderful day of making peace. I’ve never gone back to my “home town”…this makes me think about what that might be like. But I thought, while reading about you meeting up first with your neighbor (and your worry over then vs now) how much this line of thinking influences how I think about meeting anyone now…. I always wish I could have met people at a different point of me. Thank you for sharing your story.

Lovely look back! I especially liked the compassion with which you remembered the painful memories. It took some chutzpah to make that trip ,today Nan with little Nan. Thanks for sharing!

Done it again! This is wonderful. It made me think about my old haunts. My 6th grade elementary school class actually had a reunion a few years ago. That was something! When I go to the city, the neighborhood where I grew up, the upper west side, is so so different. Growing up, I couldn't walk past where the apartment building ended, couldn't go to Columbus Avenue which is the original hub for gentrification. The Beacon Theater where I saw the original Titanic is now a venue for big deal shows. Thank you for making me think about all these things. xo
